I had this in a function where they served ladysfinger
vathal kuzhambhu, chowchow karamani kootu,potato roast and papad..you know how
delicious it was...I loved vathal kuzhambhu, chowchow karamani kootu so much
that
I tried it the very next day....first time it was not a hit...but then i
made few changes and i got it right the next time....my family loved
it........so the receipe...
INGREDIENTS
Onion-1(optional)
Tomato-1 big
Crushed garlic-3 pods
Chow chow-2 chopped
White kidney beans-1/4 cup
Moong dal-1/2 cup
Chilly powder-1/2 teaspoon
Coriander powder-1/2 teaspoon
Turmeric powder-1/4 teaspoon
Coconut paste-2 tablespoon(optional)
Salt- as required
SEASONING
Mustard,urad dal – 1 tablespoon
Curry leaves- few
Hing-little
PREPARATION
Soak kidney beans in water overnight. Boil kidney beans in
cooker for 2 whistles...Cook chow chow and dal with 1 cup of water with
turmeric powder.Cook until they boil.Heat oil in a pan . Add items in
seasoning....Add onions sauté it for 2 minutes. After it changes colour,add the
tomatoes and cook till it smashes.Add masala powders given and mix it. Add it
to the veggies with salt cook for 2 minutes .Add coconut paste to it and cook
for 2 minutes.Make sure the kootu is slight watery for good taste...
BOIL DAL
AND VEGGIES , SPICE POWDERS
ADD WATER,CLOSE IT
ITS BOILED
ADD BOILED DAL
MIX IT
ADD COCONUT PASTE
ADD SEASONING
DONE
Note
Coconut paste is optional, I love the version without
coconut....but its equally good with coconut...
