DAL TADKA



            A simple,tasty and easy sidedish to prepare is ofcourse paruppu kadayal.A small variation in preparation is the north indian preparation of this called Dal tadka.This receipe is ofcourse equally best with a different good taste.

INGREDIENTS
Thoor dal-1 cup
onion-1 small
tomato-1 big
green chillies-2
kashmiri redchilly-1
curry leaves-few(OPTIONAL)
coriander leaves-few
ghee/butter-2 tablespoon

For seasoning
jeera-1 teaspoon
mustard seeds,urud dal-1 teaspoon(optional)



PREPARATION
      FOR an authentic tadka curry leaves,mustard seeds,urud dal are not added.
      Wash and soak thoor dal with enough water , boil and smash well.
      Pour GHEE/BUTTER in a pan add items given for seasoning.let it splutter.Now add chopped onions,cook well.once its done add chopped tomatoes add little salt so that it smashes well and binds with onion together as a paste like consistency...Now add chopped ginger-garlic, green chillies, redchilly and saute well.Now add turmeric powder, asafoetida and mix well.Now add smashed dal and keep in low flame for 5 minutes , stir occasionally.Dal Tadka is ready..........awesome with rice and rotis..

Tips
      If you add more green chillies making it hot, it becomes andhra pappu dal.
      Add few drops oil while boiling dal, so that it boils soon.
